Jancorvan
Jancorvan (Jahn-chore-van) is the single largest city in Bunjet. The capital of the modern intercontinental Vorthan Empire, it's true size has never been measured, though most sources estimate it to be upwards of fifteen miles wall to wall.-----Construction began on the city sometime in the 8th century B.O.E. Though the city is today inherently Vorthan, it originally was constructed in Gornic territory, but the land was sold in its fourth year of construction due to lack of funds. The Vorthan Empire went on to claim the surrounding lands years later. In the year 220 B.O.E. construction of the massive wall surrounding the city was officially declared finished, though countless additions and edits have been made since then.-----The Castle at the center of the city has no official name, with most simply calling it "Jancorvan Castle" or "Jancorvan's castle." Lord Undjick resides here, a strong-willed, strict man with little time to waste. He is loved by most inhabitants, his rulings- though often cruel- are usually necessary to keep safety and tranquility, especially in this time of turmoil. He is part dwarf, which have led people to question his loyalty to Vorthania in the past, but he has shown no real evidence of any suspicious activity, and has been a great asset to the Emperor.-----The city is divided into 12 districts, each named for the overseer who resides there. The city is far too large for just Undjick to take care of, so he has 12 overseers who take care of any petty disputes or issues, and whom only come to him for the most important matters. No civilians are allowed to speak with Undjeck unless authorized by one of these overseers.-----Speaking of the overseers, the city has it's own miniature republic form of government due to it's size. Lord Undjeck made this himself, as he saw it fair to not hold full power, and to let each of the overseers discuss what is of importance twice a year at his "Royal Meetings" which often last several days. At the end of each royal meeting (one in fall and one in spring,) he writes the "Forthcomings" document, which showcases the upcoming events and happenings that occur in each district. Ex: "District 7 will receive a new fountain as the current one has broken, a repaved main street, and increased taxation on imports." Though many of these would be much longer than that. This Forthcomings paper would then be available all over town, just as a newspaper would, for the people to purchase.-----Several gangs and guilds run through the city, but the guard force has very little information on them, and even less that is public. They are mostly harmless, but they cause mischief, and in some parts of the city, thievery.-----Jancorvan is a grand city plagued by turmoil and strife in some parts, and blessed with fortune and cleanliness in others. It is a great place to be, unless you are a Vorgor. It doesn't have much of the racism problems as many other Vorthan cities, but it is still present, so Dwarves, Elves, and Tieflings all beware especially. Lord Undjick and his Overseers are mostly kind, but do not make the mistake of taking their kindness for granted. Jancorvan has little crime, and criminals find out why that is true very quickly.
