Description

At first glance, it looks like a collection of taverns, workshops, arcades, classrooms, and design studios scattered across a vast landscape. But the inhabitants know a secret: every place in this world is really a learning system disguised as a game. Some travelers spend their time exploring legendary games and decoding why they work. Others study the strange forces that shape player behavior—identity, motivation, challenge, community, and meaning. Along the way, they encounter scholars, designers, educators, and players who each see the world through a different lens. The deeper they travel, the more they realize that games are not objects but systems that shape experience, identity, and understanding.

Every traveler eventually becomes a Maker. Armed with quests, prototypes, playtests, and reflections, they venture into the Design Forge to create a game of their own. Success is not measured by points or grades alone, but by whether they can craft an experience that helps another person learn, feel, think, or become something new. By the end of the journey, each player leaves behind a playable artifact and a trail of discoveries, having learned the course’s central truth: the best way to understand games and learning is to live inside a game system while building one yourself.
